I still need to sand it down evenly, but the spraying procedure was very easy to do and Im very pleased with. Try Shellac as a basecoat / sealer with Behlens as the top coat.mmmm. I just used this on an old beat up Fender body. The gun blocked up just as much or even worse. I use Behlens Stringed Instrument Lacquer but I use the quart cans with a spray gun. I started thinning out the lacquer hoping to get a better spray but did not work at all. (Luckily I'm not looking for a supa-dupa finish on this one as it is more of an experimental project) The back and neck aren't too bad but the front is a problem for another day. I cleaned the nozzle out then continued, and repeated this process until I decided to quit while I was behind It sprayed on okay for about 3 or 4 passes then blocked up. Not every product was included in the transition, in that there are good Mohawk equivalent s for those items. As of June 1 st 2019 the H.Behlen Finishing Products were transitioned to the Mohawk Finishing label. The quality of a finish created with these aerosols will be the same professional grade as that which is sprayed from a gun. Behlen Stringed Instrument Lacquer, Vinyl Sealer, and Guitar Toner aerosols are formulated specifically for use on stringed musical instruments. One story I read a guy says he is still using Nitro that is 20 years old. And the latest trend is toward Pre-catalysed lacquer which as I suspected, shortens shelf-life The formula for Nitro has changed over the years and some are now a blend of Poly and or Acrylic and plasticisers and what have you. Wow kind-a pricey.but then I noticed "1960's" formula, which might make it worth it. That place in Sydney seems to do spray cans and (my link above) 1 litre tins for use in spray guns
